Yesterday saw the first event of the 25/26 Lacrosse season underway - Bath 8s Tournament
This year was a truly epic year for Cheltenham Lacrosse Club as both teams made it into their respective finals.
The Men finished 1st in their pool with only one very close loss to Northern team, Cheadle. Convincing wins over Bournemouth Uni and Walcountians in the QFs and SFs saw them head to the final to play Div 1 rivals Reading Wildcats. Unfortunately Reading got the best of the cougars and came away the victors.
The Women's side came into the tournament as reigning champions and were looking to defend their title. Unbeaten in pool play, the team were feeling confident heading into the knockout rounds. First up in the QFs were the hosts Bath Lacrosse and a fiesty game followed but Cheltenham coming out the victors 3-2. Semi final victory 8-1 over Lancaster took the team into the Final for the second year against Northern side Wilmslow. A tight back and forth game followed with both goalies playing exceptionally well. Cheltenham held strong and came away winners 4-2. Champions for the second year in a row!
This was the first time a team has won back-to-back titles at Bath 8s!
Very proud of all our players representing yesterday - lots of heart and hustle on show and well-deserved to make it to the finals for both teams!
